Blackpool Illuminations & Lancashire Highlights
Monday 27th September 2010
Once again, we are delighted to feature this
popular tour to Blackpool with its colourful
illuminations. Considered by many to be the
greatest free light show on earth, it has played a
major part in Blackpool’s calendar since 1879 –
when it was described as ‘Artificial Sunshine’! We
view the lights by coach and then you could hop
aboard one of the famous trams or just saunter along perhaps stopping for fish and
chips! Of course, there is also all the fun and sparkle which Blackpool offers all year
round. The world famous Tower, magnificent piers and the stunning Tower Ballroom
are not to be missed. Just along the coast we find Lytham St. Annes with peaceful
parks, beautiful gardens and old half-timbered buildings with a fine promenade and
sandy beaches. We also visit Southport, described as sophisticated, cosmopolitan
and vibrant and with the oldest surviving iron pier in the UK.
