Cruising and the Cotswolds 3 Boats & A Train
Friday 17th September 2010
The Cotswolds are the country’s largest
designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’
with gentle hillsides (‘wolds’), wooded valleys
and water meadows. There are sleepy ancient
villages, historic market towns and a feeling of
being so typically English – as if time has stood
still for some 300 years. What better way to see
this area than by boat, from the rivers and canals?
We drive to Oxford for free time, and then take our
River Thames boat trip to the historic market town of Abingdon. We enjoy a Steam
Train trip with free time in Cheltenham. We take a leisurely view of the area on our
Cotswolds Cruise, and drive to the villages of Broadway, Moreton-in-Marsh and
Boughton-on-the-Water. Finally, we take to the water again for a tranquil ride along
the River Kennett by horse drawn boat.
