Cardiff, Castles & Bays
Friday 16th April 2010
The capital city of Wales, Cardiff has such a diverse variety to interest its visitors with its shopping centre, Millenium Stadium, history and waterfront. The old Cardiff docklands have been re-developed over the last decade to create Cardiff Bay, a freshwater lake for sailing and sports. Viewed by many as Wales’ premier historical landmark, step back in time and experience the historic splendour of Cardiff Castle, as you are personally led around by the Castle Curator. This includes an exclusive 100 minutes guided tour of the interiors, followed by an entertaining illustrated talk on the Castle’s history. We take in the 19 mile long Gower peninsular which was designated 45 years ago as one of the world’s first “Outstanding Natural Beauty” areas with picturesque villages, open moors, salt marshes and dune banks. We also visit Castell Coch, the ultimate fairytale castle and a rich feast of decoration and detail, and St Fagans Folk Museum which has over 40 buildings from different historical periods, reconstructed in the 100 acre park.
