Whipsnade Zoo
Sunday 8 August 2010
With over 2,500 animals Whipsnade is one of the largest wildlife parks in Europe. Opened in 1932 and covering 600 acres the park is able to give its animals larger enclosures than most zoo's. Now owned by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) the park is devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. The zoo has a bus service and a narrow-gauge railway so that you can make the most of the enclosures. Cheetah Rock - View the cheetahs in their new landscaped 5,000m2 enclosure, on their rock look out, watching from just metres away in an African style hut, where floor-to-ceiling glass will be the only thing separating you from the animals. Includes entrance and return travel by coach.
