Bedgebury Pinetum Illuminated Trail & Rye

A Closer to Home visit to Bedgebury Pinetum for their new Christmas event.

Book Now

It's the most wonderful time of the year as the tree-tops begin to glisten and shimmer. This year, for the very first time, a one mile sparkling path winds its way through the National Pinetum in a magical after dark experience.

Greeted by the sights and sounds of Christmas, experience Bedgebury in a whole new light as you wander beneath unique canopies drenched in seasonal colour. Inspired by the landscape itself it is a festive adventure in a world of trees.

Before your visit to Bedgebury, we offer some free time in the lovely town of Rye. As well as being a Cinque Port and with all its Royal credentials, Rye makes for a fascinating visit. Its elevated High Street is a haven for antiques lovers, with the lovely St Mary’s Church close by and the Castle Museum just beyond. Down by the harbour there is an interesting Heritage Centre with a hand-thrown pottery shop next door, whilst gorgeous cottage gardens spill over into the narrow streets.

What's Included:

  • Return coach travel

  • Free time in Rye

  • Entrance to Bedgebury Pinetum Illuminated Trail

Please Note

Entrance to Bedgebury Illuminated Trail will be at 4.45pm. There is no cashpoint on site at Bedgebury.

Accessibility

Due to road restrictions, the coach will drop at the lower level of Rye. Some uphill walking will be required to see all of the town.

The Illuminated Trail follows a circular route approx 1.1 miles long and will cover hard stoned paths and timber boardwalk. Due to the natural landscape the trail will include some gradual and steeper slopes. In some areas the lighting will be low level as this is part of the experience. However, the trail is accessible to those using wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

There will be lighting sequences created within the lighting design that will have some flashing lights contained within them, however these will not be strobe lighting. Bedgebury Pinetum have worked to guidelines on photosensitive epilepsy and will adhere to the industry standard of synchronising effects and locking the sequences to ensure that lights do not operate at more than 5 flashes per second.

All visitors are reminded that this is an outdoor event and the weather may be inclement. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. Bedgebury Pinetum reserve the right to refuse inappropriately clothed patrons access to the walk, if it is felt they are open to a greater risk of injury.
