Rochester Dickensian Christmas

Rochester Dickensian Christmas

Enjoy Rochester's Victorian Christmas festivities!

Book Now

The ancient streets of Rochester have a knack for bringing Christmas to life, the way it has been preserved in movies like Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Each year, the first weekend of December brings Victorian festivities to Rochester in the form of the Dickensian Christmas Festival, where you can experience street entertainment, readings, songs and dance. You'll be captivated by Dickens' characters as you explore the literary journey that was the great writer's life. There are parades through Rochester and the magnificent surroundings of Rochester Cathedral and Castle and guaranteed snowfall creates a wonderful scene.

The Rochester Christmas Market  will also be taking place in the iconic setting of the castle gardens overlooking the River Medway. Just a few steps from the historic High Street, the castle gardens are lit up in traditional Christmas colours, trees filed with fairy lights, the smell of festive fayre and an array of up to 100 craft and trade stalls offering visitors a wide variety of affordable festive gifts and hand-crafted goods, souvenirs and novelty stocking fillers. All this plus fantastic family entertainment and Yuletide festivities, so pop along to soak up some festive atmosphere and enjoy a hog roast, hot chocolate, mulled wine or roasted chestnuts as you browse the wide range of stalls for those last minute gifts and stocking fillers.
